Mike Moore Sales & Consulting, LLC (“the Company” or “Mike Moore Sales”) officially began business in September of 2001. Started as a Woman-Owned Business owned by Carolyn and Mike Moore, the business was branded after Mike. At that time, Mike already had over 40 years of experience in the HVAC industry and was widely known for his technical expertise (called the “Steam Guru” by many throughout the Carolinas) as well as his honesty and integrity. As one of the most respected manufacturers’ representatives in the Carolinas, no other branding choice made sense.
The Company, which is based out of Indian Trail, North Carolina (a small suburb outside of Charlotte, NC), primarily operates as a manufacturers’ representative and distributor in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) industry representing best-in-class products that enable specifying engineers to achieve new levels of energy efficiency, indoor air quality, system sustainability, and building safety. The Company works with building owners, engineers, mechanical contractors and controls contractors to insure that our products’ technologies are properly applied to achieve the best possible result for everyone involved. Our end customers include local, state and federal governments and agencies, primary and secondary educational institutions, the health care industry, manufacturers, commercial real estate owners and developers.
The Company, which currently has six employees in addition to the owners, is recognized throughout the Carolinas as providing best-in-class customer service to back up our best-in-class manufacturers. From onsite applications and installation reviews, to post installation support, our customers know they can count on us to be there when they need us.
Mike Moore, Owner / Consultant
At 79 years of age, Mike is still involved in the business as a sounding board for ideas, consulting with customers on steam system issues and design as well as lead generation. Whenever possible, Mike still likes to get out on the road and see the many friends he has made over the years. Mike is also very involved with mentoring The Company’s outside sales representatives.
At this point, Mike has almost sixty years of experience in the industry. From starting the Company in 2001, to hiring three of his sons, Greg, Rick and Mark in 2006, 2007 and 2009, respectively, to the support he provides today, Mike has been a driving force behind much of the success and growth that Mike Moore Sales has seen over the years.
Carolyn Moore, CEO/Owner
Carolyn, the Company’s majority owner, was instrumental in getting the Company up and running in September 2001. Over the years, Carolyn’s efforts have played a significant role in the success of the Company. Currently, her role primarily revolve around supporting Rick in the management of Company finances and oversight of the Company’s banking relationships.
Rick Moore, President and General Manager
Rick joined the Company in October of 2007 after 17 years in public accounting. With an undergraduate degree in business and a Master’s degree in accounting, Rick was hired with the intention that he would eventually take over the running of the Company. Rick’s only experience in the industry prior to joining the Company in 2007 was in traveling with Mike on sales trips as child and many, many conversations over the years with Mike about his job. Rick has always had an intense desire to learn and with the support and training received from Mike, the manufacturers and some fantastic customers, he was quickly able to pick up the technical and sales knowledge needed to support the Company’s many customers in the application of the Company’s represented products. In 2011, Rick was named General Manager and in 2017 took over from Mike as President. Rick has primary responsibility for the Company’s overall operations including supervision of all inside and outside sales representatives and is the primary liaison between Mike Moore Sales and manufacturers that the Company represents.
Greg Moore, VP of Inside Sales
Greg joined the Company in 2006 as the first non-owner employee of the Company. He was originally hired as an outside sale representative and continued in that role until around 2011 when the Company’s growth made it necessary for the Company to have a fulltime inside sales person. Greg is responsible for insuring that all customer quote requests and orders are handled in a timely manner, assisting with the scheduling of customer appointments including lunch and learns and visits to manufacturing facilities (i.e., Ebtron’s Bring-a-Guest events that take place four times per year).
Chris Andre, Sales Representative
Chris recently graduated from UNC Charlotte with a degree in mechanical engineering and has four years of experience interning in the controls industry. He joined Mike Moore Sales on January 5, 2016 as an outside sales representative and will be relocating to the Raleigh area within the next few weeks to cover customers located in the eastern regions of North Carolina and South Carolina.
Mark Moore, Installation, Support and Start-up Services & Inside Sales Support
Mark was the third son to join the Company and was hired by Rick in early 2009 as a sales representative. Over time Mark has transitioned into the role of being the Company’s primary point person with regard to turnkey projects involving installation and start-up of Thermal Gas refrigerant monitoring systems and ONICON flow meters (he is factory certified by both Thermal Gas and ONICON for start-up and troubleshooting). He also provides inside sales and customer service support for those products and others. Mark is also certified by Triatek with regard to installation, start-up and troubleshooting of their products.
